In my opinion, the first half is boring and the second scary. But at least it led to an interesting discussion in my computer science class, a debate with my teacher over hobbits vs. gnomes.

As for #2, I'm so happy that you agree with me! I had to read it last year in preparation for a school event that I didn't even end up getting to participate in, and I thought that I was the only one who disliked it.Jamienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-940069258924140517.post-47506537871380755782011-02-18T21:43:33.452-07:002011-02-18T21:43:33.452-07:00Oh, I have another one. It was interesting for a few pages purely for the technique, and then I wanted to cry. Shortly thereafter, I wanted to gouge my eyes out with a spoon. Then I put it back on the shelf, and was very happy with that decision.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-940069258924140517.post-55237873084943566132011-02-15T07:53:07.979-07:002011-02-15T07:53:07.979-07:00And here I thought I was alone in my preference fo...And here I thought I was alone in my preference for books that are entertaining rather than depressing. I have enough problems dealing with life that I don't want to be brought down even further by what I'm reading.

I agree with most of these, although I'd say only the first book in the LOTR trilogy suffers from the problems you mention.Juliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02569267461900405079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-940069258924140517.post-2909600529588477932011-02-14T22:08:35.027-07:002011-02-14T22:08:35.027-07:00It's not just English majors. My sole exception is that while I no longer really care for the Lord of the Rings, and have no interest in re-reading them now, I did actually enjoy them the first time through.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
